Dear friends,
the time has come: we’re kicking off the big anniversary year! 20 years of Get Well Soon. At last we’re as young as we never felt. We’re excited to celebrate with you.
There’s a lot to talk about — so let’s stick to the facts…
NOW: New single “OK” plus another new song!
With “OK” we’re back. The first single from the upcoming album MINUS THE MAGIC already hints at what’s in store: we turned up the guitars and, in keeping with our (midlife) age, made a “rock album” (in quotation marks).
“OK” is an attempt not to (completely) sink back into gloom and melancholy in times like these. It’s hard work, it may seem a little absurd, but surely it’s also part of the job of art and music to at least try. Here’s that famous calendar quote by Albert Schweitzer: “There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.” If you don’t have a cat, apparently you can find one on YouTube. And music? How about “OK”?
Every day seems to bring a new category of stupidity, dancing fascists strain German-American friendship, you try to propose a toast and somehow end up in a dystopia. In the middle of all this — hopefully again soon, and more and more — we are also “OK.” Maybe for now we don’t say “everything’s fine,” but simply: “OK.” First you learn that prime numbers can’t be divided. Then you learn: actually, they can — it’s just complicated. We’ll make ends meet.
So the second song already available tells a very different story. “The Golden Toilet Heist” is based on a real art theft (very loosely dramatized): in 2019, Maurizio Cattelan’s work “America” (a toilet made of solid gold) was stolen from Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, the birthplace of Winston Churchill.
But it’s probably more about letting go of our fear of self-reference after 20 years. Like part of the album Minus The Magic, the song title nods to the 2014 EP “The Lufthansa Heist”. Simply the best heist since then.
ON MAY 22: A new album – MINUS THE MAGIC
With Minus The Magic, we went into the studio as a full band for the first time and recorded live. That was never the Get Well Soon way of working — but as mentioned: it’s a rock album. And that’s just how it’s done! Much of the album deals with the so-called big questions that tend to surface in midlife — whether you want them to or not. We’re well aware of the cliché of wanting to play in a rock band in your mid-40s. But hey, over the years you also gain a certain amount of self-irony. Far more important than wisdom, by the way. If things here and there sound a bit like our youth, it’s not about nostalgia or longing. It’s more about asking: “How did I get here?” This sound is a good place to think about where you come from — maybe even where you’re headed. Hopefully it feels that way for many of you too. And hopefully you’ll have as much fun with it as we did.

3. IN JUNE: A club tour!
And of course we’re treating ourselves — and you — to that little trip back as well: a small tour of some of the places where we first stepped onto “the boards,” and where this music truly belongs.
We’ll meet in the intimate setting of Germany’s beautiful small rock clubs. Let’s party like it’s 2006! Come one, come all — and be quick: it’s going to be smaller, tighter, cozier!

IN OCTOBER: An even newer album – SÉANCE
And because that’s not enough — more is more, keep it coming — another album will be released in the fall, with 15 steaming hot new tracks from yours truly. Finger-licking tasty stuff. But we don’t want to overwhelm you with information, nor leave you hanging in suspense for too long. So: there’s plenty to tell about Album No. 2 of 2026 — but more on that later. For now, just this: it bears the mysterious, even paranormal title SÉANCE. (Insert suspenseful “uuuuuhhh” sound here.)
5. AFTER THAT: The big tour!
Naturally, there will be a big tour following SÉANCE — celebrating the anniversary and everything else as well. So stay tuned for more hot news!
